The ShKAS (Shipitalny Komaritski Aviatsionny Skorostrelny, or Shipitalny-Komaritski aircraft machine gun) is a 7.62 mm caliber machine gun commonly found of Soviet aircraft during the Second World War.

Design[]

The ShKAS was a typical gas-operated machine gun, however, one feature set it apart from many of its contemporaries. The ShKAS used a unique revolving drum that separated the individual rounds from the belt, as opposed to feeding from the ammunition belt directly.
